$145,000 Theft in Murfreesboro from the home of an elderly woman

A $145,000 theft of cash has been reported in Murfreesboro. The incident happened in a neighborhood in the Cason Lane area.

The 80-year old victim told police the life savings was stored in a safe that was in her home. She believes a caretaker may have taken the cash. The female told officers that the caretaker was the only other person who was in her home other than her ailing husband who is now deceased. She said the caretaker knew exactly where the safe was located. The victim said that she looked for the money in the safe when her husband passed away and the cash was gone, which is when she called the police.

A Murfreesboro Detective is now investigating the case. No arrests have been made at this point, but a suspect has been named.
