"17th Annual Greenway Art Festival" A Huge Success!

(MURFREESBORO) Perfect temps and a gentle breeze brought record attendance to Saturday's 17th Annual Greenway Art Festival in the Old Fort Park.

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department Event Coordinator Lisa Browning noted, "There were over 70 fine artists working with a variety of mediums."

She explained, "The theme of Saturday's event was Cross Pollination--Art and Nature in Harmony. It was chosen to reflect the synergy of what's going on in the Murfreesboro Arts community. Just like plants, animals and insects work together to flourish, artists from all genres are coming together to build each other up resulting in a flourishing arts community,"

The Greenway Art Festival was hosted by the Cultural Arts division of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department and Friends of the Greenway.

"This is a one-of-a-kind family friendly event," said Lisa Browning, Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department event coordinator. "We are excited to host over 70 fine artists working with a variety of mediums."

The theme "Cross Pollination" Art and Nature in Harmony," was chosen to reflect the synergy of what's going on in the Murfreesboro Arts community. "Just like plants, animals and insects work together to flourish, artists from all genres are coming together to build each other up resulting in a flourishing arts community," said Browning.

Musicians offered live entertainment throughout the Greenway Art Festival, and beautiful creations in oil, watercolor along with pen and ink, plus pottery, textiles, metal, glass, sculpture and jewelry were offered by artisans who first passed a jury to be allowed into the show.
