Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department and Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department conducted a Child Safety Seat Inspection Station at GFS Marketplace at 465 North Thompson Lane on Saturday, June 1.

In just three hours, 19 child safety seats were checked.  According to Sgt. Jimmy Cassidy of RCSO, 18 of the seats were installed improperly and two of the seats were recalled and had to be replaced with new ones.

“The event was a great success,” said Ashley McDonald, MFRD’s Public Information Officer. “It is amazing to watch these groups come together for the safety of the children in our community.”

On average, four out of every five car seats checked at these inspection stations are installed incorrectly. If you missed Saturday’s inspection station, there are other opportunities to have your child’s safety seat installed or inspected.
