2015 Greenway Art Festival attracts more artist than ever, Sept. 19

Talented artists will once again display and sell their creative work along the Greenway trail, Saturday, September 19, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., at the 13th annual Greenway Art Festival in Murfreesboro's Old Fort Park. The annual festival, hosted by the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department and Friends of the Greenway, is located at the Old Fort Park trailhead, 916 Golf Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129. Over 70 artists are registered for this year's festival.

"Last year's record turn-out of the Greenway Art Festival showcased more than a mile of local, juried artists," said Melinda Tate, Greenway Program Coordinator. "The 13th annual festival is expected to be even bigger and better with more artwork and crafts for festival-goers to enjoy."

Patrons can browse through booths of original artwork and crafts produced by some of the finest artists in Middle Tennessee. The family-friendly setting along Spring Branch Creek of the Stones River as the autumn season approaches includes food vendors, kids' art activities, and music. This year's entertainment includes onetime Grand Ole Opry performer Larry Pinkerton who takes the stage from 10 a.m. until Noon. Local favorite Rik Garcia will perform beginning at Noon. An "Emerging Artists" booth will showcase up-and-coming local musicians. Admission and performances are free for all ages.

Among the original artwork on display:

  • Oil painting, acrylics, and watercolors.
  • Drawing, digital art, photography, and furniture.
  • Pottery, sculpture, jewelry, and crafts.

The local art will be displayed in 15'x15' booth space along the trail or 10'x10' booth space in the pavilion. All work is original and created by the artists; no mass-produced, commercially manufactured work or work manufactured from kits or molds are eligible.

In the event of heavy rains, the festival will be canceled. The event will not be rescheduled or moved to an indoor location.
