The 29th annual Main Street Luncheon and Meeting was held at the Maple Street Grill on the Murfreesboro Square Tuesday. During the meeting, Bouldin & Reed PLC received the design award for the best building in the downtown area and Henry’s Florist received the “Downtown Business of the Year” award for 2013. You may recall, Henry Phillips retired last year and in doing so, closed down Henry’s Florist at the intersection of East Main at North Church Street.

WGNS had a chance to speak with Phillips and asked him, “What would you tell someone thinking about opening a business on the local square today?”

The building that Phillips has been located in has quite the history as well. Property records show it was built in 1900. Only time will tell what will happen next. Phillips owns the building and has not yet decided what he wants to see happen to it.
