It's back--The Cripple Creek Cloggers is hosting the thirty-fifth International Folkfest now through June 18th. Steve Cates will be on the WGNS Action Line Tuesday morning (6/13/2017) from 8:10-8:35AM.
Groups have arrived in Murfreesboro from Canada, Lithuania and Mexico and will tour and perform around the mid-state as guests of the Cripple Creek Cloggers.
There will be a private welcoming celebration Monday evening (6/12/2017) at the Grove at Williamson Place.
Cates noted, "We are excited to welcome to our festival this year a fine troupe from Lithuania. The Embassy of Lithuania in Washington, DC will send Executive Assistant to the Ambassador Gintare Gedrimaite to this Murfreesboro event."
In addition to this being a special year for the FolkFest, it is a milestone for the cloggers who are celebrating 50-years. Steve Cates birthed that idea in 1967 as a 4-H project when fourth through the eighth grade Kitrell Elementary School students won first place in the Rutherford County 4-H Clubs "Share The Fun" contest. As they say, the rest is history.
