Bill Carey was looking for a way to raise money for the American Diabetes Association and other local charities in 1976. He had a new development on Hwy. 231 S in Murfreesboro called Fox Run with a public golf course. Bill knew of golf scrambles being played in other places, but no one had ever hosted one in Rutherford County. What a perfect way to raise money for the ADA and others. The first Bill Carey Golf Scramble was held on a warm summer afternoon with fun and prizes for everyone. Now, after forty years and over $250,000 donated to charity, Bill Carey and Rutherford County's original scramble are still going strong!

The 40th Annual Bill Carey REALTOR® Golf Scramble is this Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Indian Hills Golf Club (the same site as the Fox Run Golf Course all those years ago!).

Presented by First Community Mortgage and Ameri Care Services, all proceeds from the 40th Annual Bill Carey REALTOR® Golf Scramble will benefit the American Diabetes Association and the Middle Tennessee Association of REALTORS® Scholarship Fund. Special guests will include recipients of the six college scholarships awarded by MTAR for 2017. MTAR awards scholarships to incoming freshmen every year from within the 8-county MTAR service area.

Lunch will be served at 11:00am with a shotgun start at 1:00pm. New this year, there will be a silent auction for charity throughout the day with some great items up for grabs.

Nissan of Murfreesboro has made sure that hole #13 will be an exciting place to be. Some lucky golfer could win a 2017 Midnight Edition Nissan Altima with a hole-in-one! Other great benefits of playing include cash, prizes and trophies for two flights of winners, prizes for skill shots and putting and gifts for every participant. All golfers will receive a custom leather golf glove from the Blue Raider Athletic Association, a framed photo taken on the course and more. Registration includes lunch, cart, game and liquid refreshments on the course. There will also be a reception in the clubhouse after the Scramble.

The cost to play in "The Bill Carey" is $100 for individuals or $400 for a team of four. Entries will be accepted up to and including the day of the tournament, but the earlier the entries, the better organizers can plan.
