5,000+ People visiting Murfreesboro for TSSAA Cheerleading and Dance Championships

The 2016 TSSAA State Cheerleading and Dance Championships will be held Nov. 12 at Murphy Center on the Middle Tennessee State University campus in Murfreesboro. Dance competition begins at 8 am, and cheerleading competition will start at 12:30 pm.

This event brings in 1200 athletes and more than 4600 spectators to Rutherford County. Small varsity, medium varsity, large varsity, varsity game day, super varsity, coed varsity, junior varsity, and routine (non-tumbling) will compete for the title of state champions. Cheerleading and Dance championships have been hosted in Murfreesboro since 1998.

"We are excited to welcome over 115 cheerleading and dance teams and their families to Rutherford County," said Barbara Wolke, vice president of the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "An estimated 5000 people will be staying in our hotels, shopping in our stores and dining in our restaurants," Wolke added.

Admission is $10. A parking fee of $5 will be charged.
