It's hard to believe, but it's been five-years since the old Middle Tennessee Medical Center moved from it's home since 1927 on Highland Avenue. On October 2nd, 2010, a new era in healthcare in Murfreesboro began when the hospital occupied their new facility on Medical Center Parkway. A few years later the name was changed to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

On October 2nd, 2010, the new facility moved it's first patient at 5 a.m. From the Highland campus to the new hospital. There were 137 patients moved safely by noon to the new facility. The old facility was officially closed at 11:24am that day.
