What is Bald in the Boro? This event is a community-wide tradition that involves buzzing bald heads in exchange for donations to the St. Baldrick's Foundation for childhood cancer research.

Brittany, team member of the Radiology department at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, holds this cause close to her heart. Her son, Colt, was diagnosed in October of 2016, with a rare form of childhood cancer of the retina, called Retinoblastoma.

"We were told that Colt would need chemotherapy to shrink the tumors, and it needed to be started immediately due to the size," Brittany shares.

The family bravely supported their small son through six rounds of chemotherapy and six tumors. It is difficult to imagine the freedom and joy experienced when the family received news that Colt did not need any more chemotherapy treatments!

Colt's story of remission is one of many, thanks to the technology and research that have been conducted. The St. Baldrick's Foundation wants to continue to offer this beacon of hope to families who are presented with the unwanted and daunting diagnosis of childhood cancer.

Bald in the Boro is a family-fun event, encouraging the community to have fun for a cause that matters. People of all ages are welcomed to 'brave the shave,' or simply donate and enjoy the joyous atmosphere of the evening. Some additional fun will include face painting, meet and greet opportunities with superheroes and princesses, and a photo booth. Lanes, Trains and Automobiles will remain open for bowling and games.

To participate or learn more about the event, visit baldintheboro.com or join the cause on Friday, March 16th at Lanes, Trains and Automobiles from 4pm - 7:30pm.

Thank you to the event sponsors, Lanes Trains and Automobiles, Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, The Beehive Salon, and Shea & Dugger Investment Group.
