The Special Kids Race is quickly approaching. This Saturday, March, 9, 2019, at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, Special Kids is planning for 3,000 participants in the 15K, 10K, 5K and 1-Mile Family Fun Run.

Runners and walkers have the opportunity to participate in one of four race distances: 15K, 10K, 5K or 1-Mile Family Fun Run. The event welcomes all levels of participants and encourages the whole family to get involved. Race fees are $60 for the 15K, $55 for the 10K, $45 for the 5K and $25 for the 1-Mile Fun Run. A "Virtual Runner" option is also available for $30 if a participant would still like to be involved but cannot attend on the actual race day. Registration is open online at SpecialKidsRace.org.

Jaden is this year's Impact Special Kids partner for the 8th annual Special Kids Race. Jaden's mom beams and her eyes fill with joyful tears as she recounts the past months, "Jaden is able to wheel himself up and down the hallway now... something he had never done before Special Kids." He's now working hard to start walking as well, "I know this next year is going to be his year to start walking. I just know it is."

Beyond entrance to the event, 15K, 10K and 5K race participants will receive a quarter-zip pullover, race medal and additional race swag from MMC and partners. 1-Mile Fun Run participants will receive a soft-style t-shirt and race medal. For the eighth year, all race expenses are covered by sponsors, allowing funds from registration fees to directly benefit children with special needs at Special Kids.

The race is an annual fundraiser for the local nonprofit Special Kids Therapy & Nursing Center. The race revenue is 20% of the $1.4 million dollars needed annually to help keep operations up and running at Special Kids. Race participants and teams, even individuals not running or walking, can additionally help children with special needs by joining "Impact Special Kids", an online fundraising community that helps supporters turn their creative fundraising ideas into a reality. Impact members can participate as individuals or create their own team.

"We are really looking forward to our eighth year of this event," shares Stephanie Folkmann, Special Kids director of development. "Our hope is that the community will continue to take hold of this fundraising opportunity to come together for the kids."
