A man accidentally shot himself in the foot on Sunday afternoon in Murfreesboro. A woman who was in the home at the time of the accidental shooting told police that she was in the kitchen when the 37 year old victim shot himself while cleaning his Mossberg shotgun.

A police report shows the Claydon Court man told officers he was in his bedroom when the shotgun discharged. After he shot himself, he started screaming for help. The female who was in the other room quickly dialed 9-1-1.

The victim was rushed to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro with serious, but non-life threatening wounds. No charges of wrong doing have been filed and the case was labeled as an "Accidental Shooting."
