Murfreesboro Parks & Rec.'s Cultural Arts and Youth Development program took a journey into African-American musical history with Soul Beats. The free event, that was held at Patterson Park Community Center, was a celebration of drumbeats, old spiritual gospel, jazz, hip hop, rap and art.

Workshops in areas such as vocals, dance, art and African drums were only a small portion of the day that concluded with a grand finale on the stage of Washington Theater that marked the conclusion of Black History Month.
