MT. JULIET, TN (WGNS) - Just over the county line in Mt. Juliet, things got a little more dramatic than usual around 2:00AM Friday (7/10/2026) morning. Officers were called to the Providence area after a single‑vehicle crash left a car off the roadway and partially submerged in the pond near the Providence Swim Club.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle—but not the driver. According to police, the 25‑year‑old Mt. Juliet man behind the wheel had already climbed out and taken off running into a nearby wooded area. With darkness, water, and thick brush in the mix, officers quickly set up a perimeter to keep the situation contained.
The search didn’t take long. After a brief sweep of the woods, officers located the man safely and took him into custody without further incident. Once everything settled, police confirmed the driver was arrested and charged with DUI, Misdemeanor Evading Arrest, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
Despite the dramatic setting—a car in a pond at two in the morning—no one was hurt. Police emphasized their appreciation for the teamwork and quick response that helped bring the situation to a calm conclusion. And while the driver now faces several charges, officers noted the most important outcome: everyone walked away safely, including the suspect.
