MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - An elderly man was taken to the hospital Monday morning after firefighters responded to a residential fire on Leaf Avenue in Murfreesboro.
Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department crews arrived at the home and removed the man from the residence. Firefighters provided medical treatment at the scene before Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services transported him to a local hospital. His condition was not immediately released.
Rescue 1 conducted a primary search of the home and confirmed that no additional occupants were inside. Firefighters brought the blaze under control and then ventilated the structure to remove smoke and heat.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department Fire Marshal’s Office.
Units responding to the scene included Engine 3, Ladder 8, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Safety 1, Safety 2, Battalion Chief 1 and Battalion Chief 2.
