Multi-Vehicle Collision Blocks All Westbound Lanes of I-840

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. - A serious multi-vehicle crash shut down all westbound lanes of Interstate 840 in Wilson County late Monday night. The incident was near the Rutherford County line and just a couple of miles away from the Nashville Super Speedway exit.

The crash was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 67.6. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, all westbound lanes were blocked, and traffic had backed up to approximately mile marker 70.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that injuries were reported and urged drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The agency said the westbound side of the interstate near mile marker 67.8 would remain closed for an indefinite period while emergency crews worked at the scene.

“Interstate 840 Westbound at mile marker 67.8 is currently shut down indefinitely due to a vehicle crash with injuries,” the sheriff’s office stated. “Traffic is currently backed up to mile marker 70. Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Tennessee Highway Patrol will be investigating. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.”

The roadway was reopened by around 11 PM.

 

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
