TENNESSEE (WGNS News) - Senator Shane Reeves (R-Murfreesboro) has been named a 2026 Legislative Champion by the Chronic Disease Coalition in recognition of his commitment to advancing policies that improve the lives of Tennesseans living with chronic and rare diseases.
Presented during Chronic Disease Month, the Legislative Champion designation honors state lawmakers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in supporting patients through legislation, advocacy and engagement with the chronic disease community.
"Improving access to quality healthcare and ensuring Tennesseans living with chronic illnesses have the resources they need has always been a priority for me," said Reeves. "I'm honored to receive this recognition from the Chronic Disease Coalition and will continue working to support policies that improve health outcomes, expand access to care and strengthen our healthcare system for patients and families across Tennessee."
The Chronic Disease Coalition recognized Reeves for his ongoing work on behalf of patients and his commitment to policies that address the challenges facing those living with chronic and rare diseases.
"Champions like Senator Reeves remind us of what's possible when lawmakers view policy through the lens of the patient," said Mary Kay Clunies-Ross, executive director of the Chronic Disease Coalition. "He has taken the time to listen, engage with patients and work toward meaningful solutions. That leadership makes a real difference for families and communities."
Legislative Champions are nominated by patient ambassadors and legislative partners across the country for demonstrating a meaningful commitment to the chronic disease community through legislative leadership, patient engagement or public service.
Reeves represents Senate District 14, which includes Bedford, Cannon, Moore and part of Rutherford counties. He serves as chair of the Senate Energy, Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and is a pharmacist with extensive experience in health and patient care.
