(WGNS News) - A combination of medical experts, local school representatives, first responders like the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office have all teamed up to hold an upcoming community event geared towards area students heading back to the classroom, and their parents. The Back to School Bash is scheduled for Saturday, August 8th, at MMC’s newest location on Lascassas Pike... That was Brandise Raikes, Director of Marketing for Murfreesboro Medical Clinic.
This free, family-friendly event is designed to help local students and their parents prepare for the upcoming academic year with school supply giveaways, interactive activities such as a “build-your-own boo-boo kit,” and more. Students may even walk away with a free backpack by attending the Back 2 School Bash, while supplies last. Parents searching for the right pediatrician for their child will also have an opportunity to meet several MMC pediatricians at the event...
Deputy Laura Kuntz with the Sheriff's Office will be bringing vital attention to the day by addressing the complexities of modern child safety seat installation. She emphasized that parents can receive free, expert car safety seat help from certified technicians during the August 8th event. We asked the deputy how often child car seats are installed incorrectly... Child passenger safety is a paramount concern for parents, yet the number car seats that are installed incorrectly is surprisingly high. While vehicle safety technology has advanced to protect infants and toddlers better than ever before, the sheer mechanics of swiveling seats, multi-point harnesses, and locking mechanisms have left many parents and grandparents feeling completely overwhelmed.
