MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS News) - Murfreesboro Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after two people were found dead at an apartment complex early Tuesday morning. At this point, it appears the two knew one another and while the details may be a lot deeper, police are not saying much as the investigation remains open.
Officers first responded to Saddlebrook Apartments at approximately 1:44 a.m. on Tuesday morning (07/28/26) after the Rutherford County Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire. When officers arrived, they found two people deceased at the scene.
According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, the preliminary investigation indicates that one person shot the other before taking their own life. While Detectives have acknowledged the duo did indeed know one another, they are still looking for further information from the public.
Police did however release that there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding community.
Saddlebrook Apartments are located on Saddlebrook Drive, off Northfield Boulevard and near Northfield Elementary School.
The identities of the two people have not been released. The incident remains under investigation by detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
