La VERGNE, TN (WGNS) - Drivers who traveled along Waldron Road last Friday afternoon may remember the unexpected slowdown near Jones Boulevard. Around 2:00 PM, La Vergne Police officers responded to a crash involving a semi‑truck and a dump truck. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the roadway had to be shut down for a little over an hour while crews cleared the scene and gathered information.
The closure caused its share of frustration — as any Waldron Road backup tends to do — but officers worked steadily to reopen the roadway as quickly and safely as possible. By later in the afternoon, traffic was flowing normally again.
In reflecting on the incident, Police Chief Chris Moews noted how much he appreciated the community’s patience. And it’s worth mentioning that under Chief Moews’ leadership, the department has seen a remarkable turnaround. He has rebuilt internal morale, strengthened training, and restored public trust, especially in the northern end of the county where residents say they’ve noticed a renewed sense of professionalism and responsiveness.
So while last Friday’s crash was a temporary inconvenience, it also served as another example of how the department continues to operate with steady hands and community‑minded service — a reflection of the progress made under Chief Moews’ direction.
