MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - The Murfreesboro City Schools (MCS) Board of Directors has once again earned statewide honors for its governance and leadership. The Tennessee School Board Association (TSBA) awarded the board its Board of Distinction Award for exceptional performance in planning, policy, promotion, and board development.
The two-year designation recognizes local school boards that meet strict standards in key operational areas while pushing to improve student success. District leaders say the award highlights strategic decision-making aimed at creating lasting positive changes for students, staff, and families.
Board Chair Amanda Moore expressed pride in the board's continued focus on long-term growth. "We are honored to receive this distinction once again," Moore said. "Our board remains focused on making decisions that positively impact students today while positioning Murfreesboro City Schools for continued success in the future."
MCS Director of Schools Dr. Trey Duke noted that the honor reflects the governing body's daily dedication to the public school system. "This recognition reflects the dedication, vision, and commitment of our Board of Directors to ensuring that every decision is focused on creating the best possible opportunities for our students, staff, and families," Dr. Duke said.
MCS serves nearly 9,000 students in Pre-K through sixth grade across Rutherford County.
