LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WGNS) - La Vergne Mayor Jason Cole announced Thursday (August 20th) that he is seeking re-election to serve another four-year term leading the city. First elected in 2022, Cole stated his decision to run rests on maintaining the city's momentum and building on progress made over the last four years. During his tenure, Cole prioritized community engagement by meeting with residents at public gatherings, online, and during local events. He noted that maintaining direct communication between residents and municipal departments remains essential for effective city operations.
Economic development highlights Cole's first term. The city successfully recruited several national brands, including ALDI, Panda Express, 7 Brew Coffee, and Starbucks. The Tennessee Farmers Cooperative also expanded its local footprint. Cole personally traveled to meet with developers, retailers, and industry leaders to pitch La Vergne as a prime location for investment.
On public safety, Cole highlighted a 7% citywide drop in crime during his administration. He credited local law enforcement officers and firefighters for the reduction, noting that the city is moving forward with plans to build a new fire station to improve emergency response capabilities across the area.
Infrastructure investment rounds out Cole's primary focus areas.
