NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WGNS) - A stray bullet from an early morning shootout outside a nearby nightspot pierced a metal wall at Sam’s Club on Antioch Pike in Nashville, killing a Murfreesboro man as he worked inside the store.

The shooting happened just after 4 a.m. Sunday (September 6th). Paris Carlock, 55, of Murfreesboro, was conducting a product inventory for Frito-Lay in the chip aisle when a bullet passed through the building's exterior and struck him in the head. On-site staff rushed to Carlock's side to render aid before emergency crews transported him to a local hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.

Investigators with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) say the stray round stemmed from a dispute that started inside Lavo Lounge, located down the street from the retail store. Security personnel kicked the individuals out of the venue, but the altercation continued out in the parking lot. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots as multiple vehicles fled the scene.

MNPD Homicide Unit detectives are actively pursuing leads to identify the shooters and vehicles involved. Authorities ask anyone with information regarding the gunfire or the escaping vehicles to call Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain completely anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
