LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WGNS News) - Residents looking to clear out old computers, televisions and other unwanted electronics will have a free way to dispose of them this fall. The City of La Vergne, Vice Mayor Steve Noe and City eWaste are teaming up for the return of the Electronic Dumpster recycling event on Saturday, October 17, 2026. This year, organizers are adding a community yard sale to the event for the first time.
The event will be held at the FiftyForward La Vergne Senior Center, located at 337 Stones River Road. The Electronic Dumpster will be open from 7 a.m. until noon, while the accompanying yard sale will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers say residents from La Vergne and surrounding Tennessee communities are welcome to participate.
A wide variety of unwanted electronics will be accepted, including computers and laptops, monitors, tablets, hard drives, phones, video game systems, keyboards and mice, small household appliances, cables and chargers. The press release encourages residents to bring old or unused electronics, including items with a battery or cord. There is no charge to recycle the electronics, although donations benefiting FiftyForward Senior Center programs are appreciated.
Organizers say the program has already made a measurable impact on the amount of electronic waste going into the local landfill. Matthew Rogers, CEO of City eWaste, stated, "Across the last two Electronic Dumpsters, La Vergne residents have kept more than 13 tons of electronics out of the landfill."
The new yard sale expands the event beyond recycling by giving usable items another chance to find a home. Proceeds from the sale will support FiftyForward's senior programs. Rogers added, "But recycling is only half of the story. Adding a yard sale means the things that still work get to keep working in somebody else’s home, which is the best possible outcome. Reuse and recycle. That’s the standard we’d like La Vergne to be known for."
City eWaste is encouraging residents to recycle unwanted electronics, shop the yard sale and help La Vergne establish a new collection record. The Franklin-based company works with households, businesses and municipalities to provide electronics recycling through drop-offs, pickups and community partnerships.
