LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WGNS) - Emergency crews launched a swiftwater rescue boat into Percy Priest Lake Friday night after a person went overboard from a vessel.
La Vergne Fire Rescue Department (LVFRD) personnel responded to the Hurricane Creek Boat Ramp after receiving a dispatch call at 8:57 p.m. La Vergne Police Department (LVPD) officers assisted on scene by securing the boat ramp area. LVFRD crews rapidly prepped their equipment and had their swiftwater boat in the water by 9:18 p.m.
Incident Commander Chief Marcus Harvey coordinated the city's response, establishing command at the Hurricane Creek Boat Ramp and directing the boat crew toward Drummond Island. Meanwhile, La Vergne Emergency Communications worked to contact the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) to determine the exact location of the boat involved.
TWRA officers later located the remaining boater near the Anderson Road Recreation Area. Because that location confirmed the incident occurred within Nashville's jurisdiction, LVFRD recalled its boat crew and wrapped up operations at the Hurricane Creek Boat Ramp. Metro agencies with primary jurisdiction in Nashville took over the incident.
