MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - Rutherford County’s new mayor, Randy Allen, spent Friday night right in the middle of the community he now serves. Main Street Murfreesboro’s Friday Night Live concert on September 25, 2026, brought a big crowd to the east side of the historic square, and Allen made the most of the chance to meet residents face‑to‑face.
The evening had that familiar downtown feel — folding chairs lining the sidewalk, families drifting toward the music, and plenty of longtime Murfreesboro folks catching up under the courthouse lights. Allen moved easily through the crowd, shaking hands and listening as people shared everything from congratulations to concerns.
Friday Night Live has long been one of Main Street Murfreesboro’s signature events, and returning to the east side of the square gave the night a comfortable, hometown rhythm. Local businesses stayed busy, and the music carried across the courthouse lawn as the early fall weather settled in.
For Allen, the appearance marked one of his first informal public moments since taking office. Residents said they appreciated seeing the new mayor out in the open — not behind a podium, but right there among the people, enjoying a Murfreesboro tradition.
Main Street Murfreesboro will continue its fall lineup of community events, and WGNS will keep following Mayor Allen as he begins his first months leading Rutherford County.
