MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS News) – The sight of multiple emergency vehicles near Memorial Boulevard and the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport early Thursday morning raised concerns among area residents, prompting several phone calls to WGNS Radio. Fortunately, what initially appeared to be a potentially serious emergency turned out to be a minor incident that was quickly resolved.

Shortly before 7:30 Thursday morning, Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) crews responded to a fire alarm at the Flight Simulator building, which is part of Middle Tennessee State University's Department of Aerospace. According to MFRD Public Information Director Larry Flowers, firefighters arrived to find no visible flames or signs of an active fire.

Although crews detected a faint, lingering odor of smoke inside the building, their investigation found no additional signs of trouble. The incident was cleared approximately 30 minutes after the initial call, allowing emergency personnel to return to service.

While the number of first responders may have caught the attention of passing motorists and nearby residents, the response demonstrated how quickly emergency crews can mobilize when a fire alarm is activated. Thankfully, this particular Thursday morning emergency ended without an actual fire being discovered.
