Amy Byers with Murfreesboro Electric told WGNS that scams continue to target their customers. A business owner received a phone call from a woman on Monday who identified herself as “Erica Rivers.” The female told the business owner that he needed to pay his bill by visiting CVS. Perplexed by the request, he wrote down her phone number and called the electric company. Byers told WGNS the electric department phoned the woman who called herself “Erica Rivers.”
If someone calls you asking for money to cover your electric bill, call the police and then call Murfreesboro Electric.
Byers told WGNS that 9 times out of 10, the electric department will not call you. If you have an overdue bill their correspondence to you will be via the U.S. Mail.
