The 37th Annual Bill Carey Golf Scramble returns to Indian Hills Golf Club on Wednesday, June 4th with lunch at 11:30AM and a shotgun start at 1:00 o'clock.

Golfers wanting to enter the scramble as an individual or a team should contact the Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors office at 615-893-2242. Entries will be accepted up to and including the day of the tournament, but the earlier the entries, the better organizers can plan.

Ford of Murfreesboro is sponsoring the Hole-in-One prizes, which could win someone a two-year lease on a Ford Escape SE (a $10,000 value) or one of 2 stay-and-play golf trips. But, the important thing to remember is that this historic golf tournament provides scholarships for high school seniors in the region and supports the American Diabetes Association.

Players will receive some more tangible benefits as well. There will be prizes and trophies for winning teams, gifts for every participant and a great “after party” at the Indian Hills Golf Clubhouse. “This makes for a wonderful day and evening for the players,” Woolsey says. In addition, the entry fee includes a lunch, beverages on the course, a custom leather golf glove and a framed photo taken on the course.

Tournament organizers are hoping to field 24-36 teams for the scramble so MTAR can continue and even enhance the charity work begun by Realtor Bill Carey, who started it all in 1976. The cost is $100 for an individual and $400 for a team. “Because so many Realtors and other businesses are providing, food, drinks, prizes and trophies, all proceeds can go toward the MTAR Scholarship Fund and the American Diabetes Association,” she explains, “and the more teams we have, the more we can help these causes.”

Golf Digest magazine estimates the odds of an average golfer making a hole-in-one at 12,000 to one and sinking one on a designated hole at 48,000 to one. But, the odds are a lot better that someone will drive away with a new Ford Escape on June 4 if he or she eagles the par-three 15th hole during the 37th Annual Bill Carey Golf Scramble at Indian Hills in Murfreesboro. “It’s a certainty,” says Susan Woolsey, Community Affairs Manager of the Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors.

It is also a certainty that whether or not anyone makes a hole-in-one, some local high school seniors will get a financial boost on their way to college, and the American Diabetes Association will have more money to conduct its life-saving programs.

Again, the 37th Annual Bill Carey Golf Scramble is set for Indian Hills on Wednesday, June 4th. And you might drive away in a new Escape SE from Ford of Murfreesboro. For more information, call Susan Woolsey at the Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors at 615-893-2242.
