Don't throw those old Christmas trees in the trash. They will fill-up the rapidly being used space in our landfill. Instead, take all of the decorations off the tree, and recycle it.
Murfreesboro: Instead putting your cut Christmas tree or greenery in the trash to take-up space in the landfill, please recycle it at the Cannonsburgh (312 S. Front St.) through Saturday, January 17, 2015.
The Murfreesboro Public Works facility (4765 Florence Rd.) is also recycling cut Christmas trees and greenery on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6:00 each morning until 3:55 in the afternoon.
Murfreesboro residents can also leave their cut Christmas tree for normal brush pickup. For information, phone 615-893-3681. Please remove all decorations.
Smyrna: Recycle your cut Christmas tree and greenery through January 11, 2015 near the football fields at the Lee Victory Recreation Park (off Sam Ridley Parkway). Please remove all decorations. The mulch from these trees will be used to improve the trails at Smyrna's parks.
La Vergne: The City of La Vergne will accept live Christmas trees through January 31 for residents wishing to dispose of them after the holiday season. Please remove all decorations. There is a specially marked parking lot next to the Public Works Department, located at 149 International Boulevard off of Waldron Road. For more information, please call the La Vergne Public Works Department at (615) 793-9891.
