A man arrested on a "Public Intoxication" charge for allegedly causing a disturbance at the Pilot gas station on South Church Street has a much more serious charge to answer to when he appears in court this May (5/26/15). Richard Shults reportedly told Officer Treadway that he was going to kill another MPD officer "with a gun," according to a police report.

Officer Burubeltz, the officer who was allegedly threatened, reported that Shults was unsteady on his feet and refused to stand for a pat down. The report went on to state, "Mr. Shults became belligerent and aggressive, causing me to detain him with physical force." The threat was said to have occurred after the 48-year old Clarksville resident was transported to the hospital for medical clearance.

Shults was charged with Public Intoxication, Resisting Arrest and Retaliation.
