There was a fatal crash in Smyrna around 6:15 Tuesday night and 10-year old Joseph Earls died after being ejected from one of the vehicles.

Smyrna Police Sgt. Bobby Gibson told WGNS that a Ford Explorer and Chevy S-10 pickup collided on the Old Nashville Highway at Rocky Fork Road. He said that the Explorer had rolled and was upside down in the middle of the roadway when first-responders arrived.

The Explorer was driven by the mother of the deceased youth, Susan Sensing. Joseph's stepfather, David Wilson, and his brother 12-year old William Earls were also in the vehicle. So far, it appears that neither child was wearing a seatbelt.

Luis Hernandez was driving the Chevy S-10 and was not injured. He was arrested for driving without a license.
