Saturday night, September 19, 2015, the historic Murfreesboro town square was closed to traffic as the 2015 Wine Around The Square offered a magical evening of great food, wine, music and conversation. Proceeds for this fourth annual event benefited the 11-year old Power of Pink program. It provides community awareness of breast cancer as well as diagnostic services for those who have not been screened in our community for breast cancer.

2015 Honoree

Lisa Tidwell Halliburton was the 2015 honoree for the St. Thomas Rutherfor Foundation's fourth annual Wine Around the Square. She is a local business owner, from a longtime Murfreesboro family, and is part of the Bell Jewelers team, one of the longest and most respected businesses in the region. She and her husband of 27-years, Ken, have two children: Reid, 22, and Taylor, 19. The family is active at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The people who attend evenings like this let you realize how fortunate we are to live in this community. There was a blend of all ages and cultures enjoying a 70-degree evening with Rutherford County's pre Civil War courthouse as the centerpiece. Adding to the ambiance was the giant clock on the cupola ringing the time every half hour.

The late summer affair included a potpourri of delicacies from the area's finest eateries: Kroger's kitchens always creates fun dishes,; Slick Pig Barbecue served their famous chicken wings; Woody's Barbecue provided BBQ; Blue Coast Burrito had a veggie bowl; The Alley On Main offered chicken salad bites; Parthanon Grille had their famous dip and Greek ribs; Alex Belew Catering served smoked pork sliders, Coca Cola BBQ sauce, and spicy slaw; Bonefish Grill had their ahi tuna sashimi; Milano II offered bruschetta; The Curious Kitchen had sweek cilantro chicken meatballs, caprese skewers with two kinds of sweet bites, mini chocolate ganache pies and peanut butter cookies; Pa Bunk's offer a mix of samples; Jim'N' Nick's Bar-B-Q had their delicious pimento cheese entrees; Stillhouse Restaurant served Short Mountain Moonshine cobbler cookies; Bar Louie had meatball appetizers, Tuscan chicken pasta, and Key lime shortcake dessert; The Goat served farmhouse tots and Guinness chocolate pie; The Honeybaked Ham Company dished up ham rolls; plus Purity provided bottled water.

The tent on the east side of the courthouse was filled with music that could be enjoyed throughout the evening and around the square. A mix of favorites from Grammy nominated songwriter Tim James, along with Frazier & Company dishing-up a mix of soul, country and rock'n roll.
