The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce's Workforce Development department kicked off the second annual High School Summer Internship Program this week. Students will intern with local employers throughout the month of June. Students were interviewed and selected by employers for this paid internship opportunity based on their specific interest and skill sets.

Beth Duffield, Vice President of Workforce Development at the Chamber of Commerce, said, "This program is an excellent opportunity for students to gain real-world experience in a career field that they are interested in pursuing. This is also an important first job for many of our students. Early work experience is critical in helping students develop a strong work ethic."

This year, 39 students are interning with 17 different Rutherford County employers.
