The Murfreesboro Branch of the NAACP has announced the honorees of the 2016 Freedom Fund Awards:

Man of the Year:

• Russell 'Slim' Smith-Superintendent of Patterson Park Community Center

Woman of the Year:

• Carolyn 'CC' Carr- retired from
• McFadden Community Center and Patterson Community Center

Youth of the Year:

• Timia Aldridge-Riverdale HS
• Glen Scrivens-Oakland HS

Organizations of the year:

• Nissan North America
• UAW Region 8
