The local Habitat for Humanity is busy with positive events! Below is a list of the latest happenings for Rutherford County:
- April 21 ( Fri) - Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for our 2nd Habitat ReStore: 413 Nissan Blvd, Smyrna, TN / 615-462-5106. Ribbon cutting at 11am.
- April 22 (Sat) - Habitat ReStore Earth Day Celebration (we keep a lot of materials out of the land fills!) Activities all day. Are you doing anything leading up to Earth Day or about the area landfills?
- April 22 (Sat) - Exit Realty Panel Build event at Stones River Mall, 9am - 3:30 pm. Kids Club: Habitat 11am - 1pm. Homes for Hounds dog house build project too. Community volunteers build all the walls for a Habitat house and a temporary house right there in the parking lot, in just 5 hours! (next to Shoe Carnival)
- April 24 is National Volunteer Week! We'll have Habitat builds going on at 101 Johnson Street in Smyrna plus two in Murfreesboro: Publix Build at 304 S. Hancock St and Home Builders Blitz at 302 S. Hancock St. Wed., April 26 would be a great day for photos of volunteers & the wall-raising at 304. Our Habitat builds rely on community volunteers! It typically takes 250-300 volunteers per house!
- April 29 (Sat) - Lowes Women Build Clinics (free) at the Murfreesboro and Smyrna Lowe's stores. Women can learn how to use tools and home improvement skills. Part of Habitat's National Women Build event. 1pm - 3pm.
- May 3 (Wed) - The Big Payback (part of the Community Foundation of Middle TN): 24 hours of giving. Our campaign will help fund the Women Build and donors will honor the woman or women in their lives (will have photos fo these) We will attend The Big Payback Rally in Rutherford celebration at Cannonsburgh Village, 11am - 1pm. Entertainment, games, pep rally, food and refreshments. Habitat Homeowner Nikki Newbold will also perform. More to come.
- May 13 (Sat) - St. Paul's Episcopal Church Panel Build event at their church in downtown M'Boro. Church volunteers build all the walls for a Habitat house and a temporary house right there in the parking lot, in just 5 hours! Kids craft activities too.
- May 8 - 15 - Women Build Week with culmination of our "Women Build" on Johnson Street in Smyrna, celebrating Mother's Day. Lowe's sponsors volunteers for this final week.
- May 19 - June 14 - World Outreach Build. Schedule and more to come.
- May 29 - June 7 - Home Builders Blitz - an exciting build with participants from the local building industry - sponsored by Ole South. Special VIP event on Tuesday, June 6 (evening). Special House Dedication with a major country music celebrity on Wednesday, June 7. More to come.
