As students head back to schools in a few weeks, parents will notice construction at some and portables at others as Rutherford County Schools scrambles to keep up with population growth.
Trey Lee, who is Assistant Superintendent Engineering & Construction, says a new middle school in the Christiana area is one of many places the county schools has their eye on for projects:
Land near Shores Road near Almaville and on Highway 231 in Walter Hill, near the elementary school there are being eyed for future expansion as well.
James Evans, Communications & Community Relations Coordinator, says the school board will re-examine the five-year building plan in the next few months after enrollment numbers settle in:
August 6th will be the first abbreviated day of school for students with August 8th the first full day.
