(MURFREESBORO) A breezy 30-degree day did not reduce the impact of Murfreesboro's Martin Luther King, Jr Day march from Central Magnet School to the Patterson Community Center at noon on Monday (1/21/2019).

Parade Founder and Organizer Shawn Brown told NewsRadio WGNS . . .

As the parade went down Hancock Street, several hundred people sang songs while marking.

Brown talked about the powerful presentation of Blackman Middle School eighth grader DeShawn Rogers who delivered Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech. The crowd at the Patterson Community Center gave Rogers a standing ovation when he completed the oration.

Community leader Angela Bingham noted . . .

The group went to the Patterson Community Center where an afternoon of programs that enabled the gathering to learn more about the earlier days of Civil Rights Movement.
