- Illinois-based Aurora Packing Company, Inc., is the source of the contaminated raw beef. The meat in question was packaged on April 19, 2019, and was shipped around the country.
- When purchasing raw beef, check the USDA mark of inspection for the establishment number "EST. 788." Any product marked in this way is part of the recall.
- If you bought beef earlier this week and tucked it away in your freezer, be sure to double-check its mark of inspection.
- As a rule, the USDA recommends that ground beef reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees. Use a meat thermometer to confirm that your patties are fully cooked.
- Symptoms of E. Coli infection typically rear their head 3 - 4 days after exposure and include: vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, fever, dehydration, and decreased appetite.
- If you believe that you may be experiencing E. Coli infection, seek medical care immediately.
