(MURFREESBORO) As the local population explodes, so does the need for non-perishable food to be distributed to needy individuals through the Salvation Army's Food Pantry.
Salvation Army of Rutherford and Cannon Counties Major Joe Irvin told WGNS, "The Salvation Army of Rutherford and Cannon Counties is in critical need of food items to support the community meal."
The Murfreesboro Salvation Army serves this meal to about a hundred persons at 5:00 o'clock each evening, 365-days a year.
Salvation Army Development Director John Mitchell noted that the public can help in many ways:
- Bring canned vegetables and nonperishable foods directly to The Salvation Army kitchen, located at 1137 W. Main Street. Phone # 615-895-7071
- Host a donation drive for canned vegetables at your church, school, or organization.
- Mail your monetary donation to PO Box 791, Murfreesboro, TN 37133
- Give online at WWW.BeyondTheBells.org
