A Squirt for the Dirt

The first measurable rain in almost a month fell across many parts of Rutherford County on the fourth. It didn't dampen the spirits of Independence Day revelers, however. It was a welcome relief, as brief as it was, from the scorching heat we've experienced lately. It was another day with temperatures above the century mark. Expect more of the same, with temperatures flirting with 100 and a small chance of afternoon storms, into next week.

Prior to the fireworks at McKnight Park, there was about an hour of solid rain. In fact, a portion of that would be considered a heavy downpour.

After the rainfall, you could see fireworks across the skyline as well as clearly hear small and large private firework. Murfreesboro Police were busy trying to enforce the fireworks ban due to drought conditions, but it was obvious there was not enough manpower to control the situation. 

The Rock The Pool party throughout the day at the 'Boro Beach was a huge success. Triple digit temperatures made the water slide and giant bucket of water poplar features at the SportsCom water park. 

After the short torential deluge, the mercury fell almost 20 degrees, but the humidity remained stout.
