8-New Police Officers in LaVergne

Eight recruits will be officially sworn in as the newest members of the LaVergne Police Department on Friday, August 3 at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony will take place after seven of the new police officers graduate that morning from theTennesseeLawEnforcementTrainingAcademy.

The officers were hired from funds put in place as part of the five-year plan city leaders adopted in early 2011.

“Our new officers have now been formally trained,” said Police Chief Mike Walker.  “Their next step will be field training and then La Vergne will have more officers on the street, where we need the most help.”

Officers being formally sworn-in are:

 

“We encourage the public to come to the swearing-in ceremony to meet our newest law enforcement officers,” said MayorSenna Mosley. “We began seeing tangible results in crime reduction earlier this year from better defined expectations, planning, and experienced management. It has been wonderful to see how our veteran officers have flourished in the past year and it will be exciting to watch the new recruits grow into their law enforcement positions. I congratulate all of them for a job well done!”
