Eight-year Murfreesboro City Councilman Eddie Smotherman was unsuccessful in his bid for a third term, as Shawn Wright captured one of three seats.

Councilman Bill Shacklett had more votes than anyone despite not spending a dollar on re-election:

After running unsuccessfully in 2018, Wright said he had no intention to run this time around. But after receiving support in the community, he decided to throw his hat in the ring:

Smotherman says he's been proud to serve Murfreesboro on the council:

Shacklett took the top spot, with 9,903 votes. Wright came in second with 9,440 and Wade 9,150. Smotherman tallied 7,181.
