Murfreesboro, Tennessee - Rutherford County Clerk Lisa Duke Crowell announced as of Wednesday, December 23, 2020, all Rutherford County Clerk offices will be closed to the public for INSIDE office Motor Vehicle services until further notice. The Drive Through only rule will not affect other Clerk services.
• Many of the Clerk’s Motor Vehicle services can be accomplished by telephone contact, postal mail, or online
• Utilize the drive thru windows at their Smyrna and Murfreesboro office locations for vehicle registration needs
• Utilize the Clerk’s online services – link to: rutherfordcountytn.gov/countyclerk
• Clerk staff will be available during standard business hours by telephone, email, and their chat system
• Tag renewals can also be completed by telephone by using your debit/credit card
• Some automobile transactions can be processed by mail with a notarized power of attorney (POA) form. The POA can be downloaded at: www.rutherfordcountytn.gov/countyclerk
