Looking back, it was the third and final murder case of 2011 when 32-year old Bruce B. Thomas of Rutherford Boulevard was shot and killed on Lakeshore Drive in Murfreesboro. Days after the December 2011 shooting, Sargent Kyle Evans told News Radio WGNS the suspect involved in the shooting was believed to be affiliated with a gang and that the murder was over a dispute involving a female.

According to the arrest report of Buchanan, Detective Yates wrote, "On 12/16/11, it was determined through investigation that Brandon D. Buchanan did intentionally, and with pre-meditation, shoot Bruce Thomas, killing him."

Buchanan, who lived on South Baird Lane, is being held in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center without bond.
