Last week in Murfreesboro, the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month by creating a better understanding of breast cancer while raising funds for the Power of Pink, Rutherford County’s premier program in the fight against breast cancer.

The Rutherford County Power of Pink program began more than a decade ago. The mission of the program is to provide awareness, education and diagnostic services for women in Rutherford County who lack the resources for breast cancer prevention and early detection.

The Foundation decorated the campus with pink ribbons in honor and memory of loved ones, purchased through associate donations. Associate breast cancer survivors were honored through slides displayed on the hospital digital boards.

Throughout the week, there were events and donation opportunities at the hospital located on Medical Center Parkway, including pumpkin decorating, a bake sale, ice cream socials and a carnival for all associates. In total, $1,032.27 was raised during the week and donated to the Power of Pink fund.

Donations to the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation will help guide the future of health care in Rutherford County and ensure everyone has access to the highest quality of care from the most compassionate caregivers. WGNS was also reminded that 100% of every donation goes directly to the programs offered to those that are fighting breast cancer and surviving.
