(Murfreesboro, TN) The Journey Home in Murfreesboro works to help those who are both homeless or on the edge of homelessness daily. Scott Foster, director of The Journey Home, said the COVID Pandemic did not lead to a health crisis in the Rutherford County homeless community as expected, but did cause other disruptions…

Director of Development Lis Couser with The Journey Home told WGNS NEWS that one financial crisis can lead to homelessness…

When living paycheck to paycheck, one financial hardship can lead to the loss of housing.

Some examples of financial crisis situations that occur locally include increased medical expenses, a repossessed car, missing a mortgage or rent payment - all of which can lead to the loss of a job and eventually – the loss of housing.

Organizations like The Journey Home are planning ahead for the challenge of continued population growth while tackling the cycle of generational poverty…

The community is invited to The Journey Home’s 3rd annual Fish Fry and fundraiser this Saturday (May 7, 2022) at Lighthouse Baptist Church from 11AM to 1PM (3145 N Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro, TN). “All-You-Can-Eat” Tickets are only $15 each and you’re invited to eat on-site while enjoying live entertainment or drop-in and receive a meal to go.

You can listen to the entire interview by WGNS' Bryan Barrett with The Journey Home above this news story.
