The Murfreesboro City Council will meet in Special Session at 4:00 p.m. this Thursday, May 19, in the Council Chambers at City Hall for the purpose of reviewing the proposed FY 23 Budget.

According to the proposed annual budget documents, "The City’s total budgeted amount for FY 23 is $573 million, including proprietary funds and internal transfers and the City’s General Fund budget is $245.9 million, which is a 10.7% increase from the previous fiscal year. Of this, half of the increase is due to $12.1 million budgeted in one-time American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and another 30% of the increase is in $7.1 million carried forward from FY22’s budget."

Several days after the Special Session, the City Council will conduct a Public Hearing during its Regular meeting at 6 p.m., May 26, 2022, to consider ‘First Reading’ of the FY 23 Budget ordinance and proposed tax rate. Second reading will be considered at the City Council Workshop, June 8, 2022. The Council budget decisions will be considered ahead of the new Fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022.

The FY 23 Budget will be distributed to City Council on or before May 15, 2022, in accordance with the Murfreesboro City Charter. The proposed budget is available on the City’s website HERE.
