MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee State University Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Miller Education Center, Second Floor Meeting Room, 503 Bell St.

One of the items that will likely be discussed revolves around student enrollment, which was a key topic when the Academic Affairs, Student Life, and Athletics Committee met on August 16, 2022. It appears that application, admission, and enrollment numbers across the state and country have been unprecedented. At MTSU, the local university is ahead by 25% admitted, but only 3% ahead for enrolled (freshman) students.

The number of transfer students entering the university is down by 7.9%. Evidently, the main reason for the decline is tied to the dwindling number of students entering community colleges. Overall undergraduate enrollment decreased by about 3.27%.

All committee meetings are open to the public and are livestreamed.

Academic Affairs, Student Life, and Athletics Committee: 9 a.m. Agenda items include approval of minutes; approval of appointment of Chair of Excellence; approval of new academic degree programs; reports on MTSU Online, performance metrics, enrollment, and athletics.

Finance and Personnel Committee: 10 a.m. Agenda items include approval of minutes; 2022-23 October revised budget; Tennessee Higher Education Commission 2023-24 operating recommendations; and THEC 2023-2024 capital outlay/maintenance recommendations.

Audit and Compliance Committee: 11 a.m. Agenda items include approval of minutes; quarterly report on results of internal audits; and external reviews.

Committee meeting times are approximate; if one meeting finishes early, the following committee meeting may begin earlier than noted.

Public parking is available in the surface lot at Bell Street and Highland Avenue. For more parking details, go to http://www.mtsu.edu/maps/.
