Law enforcement officials are warning that discarded packaging from expensive Christmas gifts can draw unwanted attention from thieves.  Experts say boxes from televisions and other big-ticket items placed in the garbage could cause burglars to target the property.  Authorities say avoiding placing the boxes outside until trash day or breaking them down and putting them into bags can help conceal any new and valuable items.  A 2020 report from security bloggers SafeAtLast says an estimated 65 percent of burglaries are committed by individuals who know the victim.  That means you should be mindful of who you show off your high-dollar holiday gifts to, according to home security specialists.
